PhD positions
- Atmospheric chamber studies of chemistry in aerosol and cloud/fog water (using CIMS, SMPS, Ozone/NOx analyzer, GC-FID, HPLC-HRMS)
- Chemical characterization and oxidation chemistry in vaping aerosols (using vaping devices, HPLC-HRMS, GC-MS, and other techniques)
- Bulk aqueous chemistry studies of atmospheric radical reactions (using HPLC-HRMS, NMR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, EPR, and other techniques)
Undergraduate Student Assistants
Undergraduate students (sophomore or junior) who have a background in Chemistry and are interested in hands-on research are encouraged to send an unofficial transcript to Prof. Nguyen to inquire about a research internship and/or an Honor’s Thesis project.
The undergraduate research assistants in our lab are valued members. Our undergrads are given opportunities to conduct their own research projects and/or play important roles helping senior members. Our undergrad alumni have been very successful with publishing peer-reviewed papers (as first authors and co-authors), presenting their results at conferences, winning research awards (from UCD and the ACS) and moving on to graduate school, professional schools, or permanent jobs in industry.
We have undergraduate research opportunities in: (2) chemistry and toxicology of electronic cigarettes, (2) aqueous chemistry and kinetics in cloud/fog droplets and aerosol water
